PEQUEÑAS ACCIONES = GRAN IMPACTO

By: Bruno Canals, Miguel Sánchez, Pau Schweins, Oscar Fincher-Sell.

SMALL ACTIONS = GREAT IMPACT

By: Bruno Canals, Miguel Sánchez, Oscar Fincher-Sell and Pau Schweins.

With this idea in mind, our Y8 @medgardens team has created a short reportage about posidonia and invasive algae for the Young Reporters for the Environment competition.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Our students were shocked to learn how such small actions (like bringing ballast water from Asia in cargo ships) can provoke such a great impact In nature (expansion of the Asian algae Rugulopteryx ocamurae in the strait of Gibraltar).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
To have a better understanding of this problem, they have interviewed Gori Mayol, an artisanal fisheman, Fiona Thomas Nash, Marine ecologist at IMEDEA (Advanced Studies for the Mediterranean Institute), and Marcial Bardolet, responsible for the Posidonia Surveillance Service at IBANAT (Balearic Institute of Nature).
