Educational Levels

Primary

From 5 to 11 years

Year 1 and Year 2 (KS1) and Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 (KS2) are years in which our children build new learning through experience and prior knowledge.

Throughout this level, children are in regular contact with nature, and part of the learning takes place outside the classroom. We focus on experimentation, manipulation, and “learning by doing”.

In KS2, lessons are strategically planned by our teachers to ensure that project-based learning is at the core of the curriculum, encouraging children to “think outside the box” and develop critical skills for personal, academic and social success. They are years in which our children develop new learning skills through experience and prior knowledge.

Secondary

KS3. From 11 to 14 years old

KS3 constitutes the 1st cycle of Secondary Education, encompassing the courses of Years 7,8 and 9.

During Y7 and Y8, PBL (Project Based Learning), remains a cornerstone of our curriculum and is designed to strengthen the links between languages, mathematics, science and computing, as well as to develop the student’s critical thinking. We emphasize the mandatory subjects of the English and Spanish curriculums which include languages, mathematics, Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) and science.

The creative arts, vocational subjects and humanities are also critical at this stage. It is through this broad and balanced curriculum that our students are able to explore their personal interests as well as develop their talents.

KS4. From 14 to 16 years old

KS4 is the 2nd cycle of Secondary Education and provides two years of preparation (Y10 and Y11) which culminate in the taking of the International General Certificates of Secondary Education (IGCSE).

We understand that students have different rates of learning and also different talents and abilities, so we offer different academic options from KS4.

These options are chosen individually with guidance from parents and teachers.

All students follow the Cambridge IGCSE core and foundation curriculum (English Language, English Literature, Mathematics, Science and Spanish). In addition, students choose 4 optional IGCSE subjects from the following: Geography, History, Business Studies, French, German, Art, Music, ICT and Physical Education.

Escola Global offers both the Spanish and English education systems. This allows non-Spanish students to choose between following both systems or to choose only the English system.

The students following the Spanish curriculum will add Catalan and sociales into their subjects. The students choosing only the English system will add one more IGCSE course to their education.

In addition, they could also achieve the Cambridge ICE group award, which is similar to a High School Diploma.

KS5. From 16 to 18 years old
